Minutes of Meeting 4th December 2007


 

Minutes of meeting held Tuesday 4th December 2007 at 6.30 p.m. Trimdon Colliery Community Centre.

Present; P Brookes, L Hovvells, C Coomber, M Girvan, M Hughes, J Appleton, S Jordan, P Duddin, L Anderson, A Richardson, L Oliver, D Hutchinson, P Hutchinson, C Carter, G Kemp, E Barker, D Major.

The chair opened the meeting and stated that the 3 main points of discussion on the agenda were now down to 1 as had 2 apologies:
•David Gallagher – nothing to report – will come to January meeting to report on drop in surgeries.
•Morris Nichol County Councillor T. Station – problems re gateway.

Diane Major gave report on Youth Services and Rural Youth Project – not always clear with Rural Youth Project, some issues – where do we go from here.  Resources – Winnebago – Trimdon Resource?
Reports were produced and sent by Rural Youth but never received – very specific towards ESF funding – targets were all met and funding now gone.
Youth Services target driven 3000 young people accreditation nationally recognised – lot more formal since 2000 yet funding has stayed same.  Youth work inspection/self assessment stated that providing good service yet no further resources available – how can Trimdon Regeneration assist? Aimed at 13-19 years teams based at Trimdon, Fishburn and now Trimdon Grange.
Winnebago – being used by County Council temporarily in dales – based at West Cornforth (Carolyn Cluer raised funds externally to maintain bus) – needs youth workers on bus and more resources to bring bus here/possibly link with Skerne Park?

Louise Anderson stated that Asset Based Scarman Trust brought forward need for youth provision - £4000 to be spent by end Feb – £2000 for consultation with young people and to train them to do work across all 4 trimdons – experts to train young people - £2000 for celebration event.  Diane Major to discuss with staff to solve problem (12-19yrs) priority to be young people who are not engaging at present.

Discussion re dedicated people to work on bus – to achieve qualifications YMCA fast track – need 8 people (age 16+) could deliver Level 1 session here – to advertise in Trimdon Messenger.

Adam ?? – Partnership – look at getting worker between both partnerships Andy Coulthard – share ideas across borough – to explore and set up meeting between Adam, Chair and 1 other – to come back with date.

Following discussions with Phil Ball at previous meeting representation/leisure groups – to work with sub groups – chase up with Ian? Link with Tina Groundwork Trust – M Girvan, P Duddin, S Appleton, M Hughes – T Station to see if can get volunteer – Adam to go back to Phil Ball and set up meeting in New Year.

Pointed out that Louise Anderson not receiving minutes.  Also to include on each agenda activities in each village update.
